It is always said that the Nobel Prize excludes China people. Before Mo Yan and Tu Youyou, none of the top scientists in China won the Nobel Prize, but some people in China did.

For example: Yang Zhenning (now of China nationality), Chinese American Li Zhengdao, Ding Zhaozhong, Cui Qi, Qian Yongjian, Gao Kun, etc.

China scientists we are familiar with, such as Deng Jiaxian, Qian Xuesen and Qian Sanqiang, have not won the Nobel Prize. So many people think that it is not that these scientists are not strong enough, but that the Nobel Prize excludes China people; Now it is awarded to the people of China because China has become stronger and wants to please the people of China. Is that really the case?

Today, I will analyze with you: Why didn't Qian Xuesen, a scientist who has made outstanding contributions to our country, win the Nobel Prize?

Qian Xuesen's contribution

First of all, to understand why a scientist didn't win the prize, we must first understand what fields Qian Xuesen has done. Let's take a brief inventory first.

1: led and presided over the research and experiments of hydrogen bombs and atomic bombs, and participated in the research and development process of artificial satellites.

2. Qian Xuesen has made outstanding contributions to applied mechanics, the most prominent of which is the similarity law of transonic flow.

3. In terms of physical mechanics, Qian Xuesen put forward the concept of physical mechanics; It opens up a new field of high temperature and high pressure.

He is one of the founders of engineering cybernetics. 1954, Qian Xuesen wrote a book "Engineering Cybernetics", which extended cybernetics to the field of engineering technology for the first time, and later became a classic textbook of cybernetics, and won the first prize of China Academy of Sciences.

In the field of aerospace, Qian Xuesen pioneered the device that can shorten the runway, and later studied interstellar flight.

.......

In fact, Qian Xuesen's contribution to China goes far beyond this. Clark, an American scientist at that time, once commented: "Among the returned scholars in China, no one is more important than Qian Xuesen."

Qian Xuesen is a student of Von Carmen, but Von Carmen never regards him as a student. When he published his autobiography, he put Qian Xuesen in the most important position to introduce him.

Qian Xuesen was the youngest professor at MIT before he left the United States, and he soon became a tenured professor. In his class, even the cleverest students failed in the exam, and scored 22 points, which was the first in the class. Later, the student who scored 22 points became a university professor. It can be said that many of Qian Xuesen's contributions are not only from China, but also from the world. No wonder US Deputy Secretary of Defense Jin Beier said this about Qian Xuesen.

He can top five American divisions by himself.

(Of course, I personally feel that there are still five divisions missing. It should be said that he changed the whole world by himself. )

Criteria for awarding the Nobel Prize

To evaluate why Qian Xuesen didn't win the Nobel Prize, we should not only look at Qian Xuesen's contribution, but also look at the award criteria of the Nobel Prize.

Nobel's evaluation criteria are implemented according to Nobel's will. According to Nobel's will, the Nobel Prize is divided into five awards, namely physics, chemistry, literature, peace and physiology (medicine). Later, on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the establishment of the Swedish National Bank, he donated a large sum of money to the Nobel Foundation and added the Nobel Prize in Economics.

The award criteria are: physics, chemistry and medicine awards, which should be awarded to people who have made significant discoveries or improvements in their respective fields. The nationality of the winner is not considered. (At the beginning of Nobel's founding, it was hoped that it would only be awarded to one's own country, but later the organizing committee found that it would be difficult to award this prize and its influence would decline. )

In addition, Nobel has two hidden rules:

1: 1 3 people will be rewarded at most for major discoveries; Five scientists solved the strong interaction with the young Mills theory, and then the Nobel Prize Committee awarded them twice. The reason why it is divided into two times is that only three people can be awarded at a time.

2. Everyone can only get 1 award in 1 field. For example, after Einstein won the Nobel Prize by photoelectric effect; Even though the discovery of relativity was more important to physics and was proved in Einstein's lifetime, it was not published.

So why didn't Qian Xuesen win the Nobel Prize?

Objectively speaking, the main reason why Qian Xuesen didn't win the prize is not that the Nobel Prize excluded China people. That is, his research did not promote basic physics.

1: Although I participated in the research of "two bombs and one satellite", the research of "two bombs and one satellite" was successful before Qian Xuesen, and the results were not innovative.

Oppenheimer, the first scientist who successfully studied the atomic bomb before him, also known as the father of the atomic bomb, didn't win the Nobel Prize.

Although Qian Xuesen is a scientist, he belongs to the field of engineering technology. His academic achievements mainly focus on engineering cybernetics, the application of physical mechanics and aerospace. These achievements are not purely theoretical or experimental physicists or chemists. And he has no innovative research in theoretical physics or chemistry. So, it's hard to win a prize.

In fact, although there were a group of top scientists in early China, they did not participate in the research of basic scientific theories, on the one hand, because the country did not have the money to support them in theoretical research, and on the other hand, because the country at that time needed them to study border defense military projects. Therefore, many scientists gave up theoretical research and devoted themselves to building a new China. It is precisely because of this that our country has developed so rapidly militarily.

However, their main achievements are in engineering technology, which is different from the Nobel Prize selection criteria, so they have no chance to win the Nobel Prize.

Although scientists like Qian Xuesen have not won the Nobel Prize, they will always surpass the Nobel Prize in our hearts. Because of them, we are not afraid of foreign powers. Because of them, we have got rid of foreign military deterrence.

So the Nobel Prize can't measure their contribution to China, and they don't need it to prove their worth.
