Quanzhou Teachers College, formerly known as Quanzhou University Teachers College, was founded in 1958. Since then, it has experienced the development process of renaming, closing and reopening. 65438-0998 Quanzhou Teachers College, Quanzhou Education College and Quanzhou Teachers College merged into a new Quanzhou Teachers College. In March 2000, it was officially upgraded to Quanzhou Teachers College with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It is the first newly-built local and provincial undergraduate college in Fujian Province.

The scientific research work of Quanzhou Normal University was initially managed by the Academic Affairs Office. In August, 20001year, with the approval of the superior, the school established the scientific research equipment department, which was responsible for scientific research management, scientific research project establishment, academic activities, equipment procurement and equipment management. In August 2006, the school established a research office and an asset management office on the basis of the research equipment office. The scientific research office is responsible for scientific research management, scientific research projects and academic activities.

In order to strengthen the management and service of philosophy and social sciences, in April of 20 17, a social science department was added to the scientific research department. In August, 2022, the Scientific Research Division was renamed as the Science and Technology Division, which consists of the Natural Science Management Division and the Comprehensive Division (Achievement Transformation Division), responsible for the management and service of natural science research.
