There are many kinds of funds. The fund you bought in 2008 should be stock or index. I personally suggest selling on rallies in the near future for the following reasons:

Funds that you have held for more than 5 years are redeemed for free. If the market is unstable recently, it is better to make a profit as soon as possible and wait until the market is stable to reinvest the income.
