Origin of the place name

Muyuan Town was established in the Tang Dynasty, so it was named because it was located on the source of Muchuan River. It is named after the peak rock standing in the southeast of the city, which looks like a person taking a bath. According to legend, there are three huge rocks in the Muxi River, the mother river of Muchuan County. From a distance, they look like three beautiful women bathing and playing, hence the name "Muchuan".
