In the Qing Dynasty, under the Ming Dynasty, Dongyang County still belonged to Jinhua Prefecture.

Modern times: During the Republic of China, administrative inspection areas were set up between counties in Zhejiang Province, and they were divided into different administrative inspection areas many times.

On May 8, 1949, Dongyang was liberated.
