Why do some funds I hold increase their holdings and some do not?
The increase in fund share should be that the fund has already paid dividends. Since the first half of this year, although the stock market has not risen much, many technology and consumer stocks have risen well, and so have the corresponding funds. Therefore, many funds have chosen to pay dividends to most funds. If you choose to reinvest, your share will increase. If you choose cash, you will get the cash transferred to you.
