China Foundation for the Development of Ageing (CADF) is a non-governmental charitable organization serving the elderly in China under the leadership of the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the National Office for Ageing, and it is an independent legal entity. Its predecessor was China Foundation for the Aged, which was established in May 1986. Carry forward the traditional virtues of respecting, loving and helping the elderly of the Chinese nation, win the support and help of organizations and people at home and abroad who care about the cause of aging in China, assist the government to actively promote the development of social welfare, medical and health care, culture and sports, and education for the elderly in China, strengthen contacts with international organizations, friendly institutions and people on aging, and promote mutual cooperation and exchanges. The competent business unit is the Ministry of Civil Affairs, entrusted by the China Association for Ageing, and subject to the business guidance, supervision and management of the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
