Bantou Village was awarded the title of “Hometown of Overseas Chinese” by the Fujian Overseas Chinese Federation.

In the 1830s, overseas Chinese raised funds to establish Nanban Club. During this period, Jinxing Private School was founded in 1937. From 1974 to 1984, overseas Chinese Yang Jinzhang and Yang Yuanlan donated 350,000 yuan to build and expand Bantou Primary School. In 1997, the Village Life Welfare Foundation for the Elderly Surnamed Yang and Zhang was established with 150 members. The reserve fund is 200,000 yuan, so that the elderly have no worries. There are many overseas Chinese in Bantou Village and celebrities emerge one after another. The famous overseas Chinese Mr. Zhang Qingquan and his mother Ms. Chen Jiazhi have generously donated huge sums of money to build the school for decades. Their heroic deeds of supporting the construction of their hometown with their virtuous people and their high integrity have been appreciated by the people of Xianyou County.
