According to the news of Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education, as of 20 1 1, there are 15 private colleges in Jiangxi Province (including newly enrolled 1 institutes), and the number of students in this college reaches 105200, accounting for1of the total number of students in general higher education in the province. Blue Sky College, one of the stronger private universities in Jiangxi, will be renamed Jiangxi Institute of Science and Technology.
The school, formerly known as Jiangxi Higher Vocational School, was founded in 1994. 1999 approved by the Ministry of Education, it became a general vocational college and was renamed Blue Sky Vocational and Technical College. In 2005, it was upgraded to an ordinary undergraduate college and renamed Blue Sky University. In 2009, it was approved as a bachelor's degree awarding unit, and was renamed Jiangxi Institute of Science and Technology on 20 12.
