Doctoral supervisor-Yang Xindong

Yang Xindong, male, born in 1945, Han nationality. Professor of Plant Pathology of Jilin Agricultural University, doctoral supervisor, honorary chairman of Jilin Plant Protection Society. In 1968, he graduated from Jilin Agricultural University with a major in plant protection, and in 1982, he received a master's degree in science from Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has been teaching plant pathology since 1982. Courses such as Plant Etiology, General Plant Pathology, Plant Disease Research Methods, Plant Disease Diagnosis, Plant Disease Epidemiology, Physiology and Molecular Plant Pathology have been offered for undergraduates and postgraduates. Textbooks such as Epidemiology of Plant Diseases, Common Techniques of Plant Diseases Research and Diagnosis of Common Diseases of Main Crops in Jilin Province have been compiled.

The main research direction is the epidemiology of plant diseases. Aiming at the rice blast which is seriously endangered in production; Corn leaf spot, gray spot and Curvularia leaf spot; Tobacco wildfire and red star disease; Cucumber downy mildew and other diseases, carried out quantitative research on the epidemic links of diseases. In the study, the quantitative influence of air relative humidity on sporulation of leaf disease spots, the calculation of floating spores carried by rainfall in the air and the quantitative dynamics of pathogenic bacteria in rain and dew were solved. The concept of "weather-induced disease index" was put forward for the first time in China, and the table solution model of weather-induced disease index of rice blast, tobacco brown spot and tobacco wildfire was established (the simulation model of computer operation was replaced by look-up table). It was found for the first time that the aging spots in curvularia lunata still maintained a unique law of vigorous sporulation. Scientific and practical chemical control indexes of rice leaf, ear blast, tobacco brown spot and wildfire disease were put forward, which have been widely popularized in rice and tobacco producing areas of Jilin Province.

In the field of disease influencing factor monitoring and disease control effect analysis, DLY-2 type gravity dew condensation instrument was developed and won the national practical patent. A regression equation for calculating dew time by using conventional observation factors of ground stations is proposed. Yang Xindong's formula for calculating the epidemic control effect of multi-cycle diseases is put forward, which solves the problem of universality of the formula. The identification and evaluation of disease resistance of rice blast and soybean mosaic were also studied.

More than 7 research papers on plant diseases have been published, and three provincial (ministerial) scientific and technological progress awards have been won, among which "Research on Rice Blast Prediction Technology in Jilin Province" won the second prize (the first prize) for scientific and technological progress in Jilin Province. In 1997, it was approved by the people's government of Jilin Province as the fourth batch of young and middle-aged professional and technical talents with outstanding contributions in Jilin Province.
