The College of Plant Sciences was established in 2004 after the former Department of Agricultural and Sideline Production of China People's Liberation Army Quartermaster University was merged into Jilin University, integrating the dominant disciplines. Department of crop science

The crop line was established in 1988. In 2004, according to the needs of military construction and development, it was transferred to the local area with the PLA Quartermaster University as a whole. At present, it is the crop department of the College of Plant Science, Ministry of Agriculture, Jilin University, with teaching and research sections on genetics and breeding, crop production and meteorology.

The faculty of Crop Department is strong, with staff 10, including 3 professors, 2 lecturers, 2 agronomists, teaching assistants 1 person, assistant experimenters 1 person and experimental technicians 1 person. Among the in-service teachers, there are 2 teachers with doctoral degrees, 2 teachers who are studying for doctoral degrees, 2 teachers with master's degrees and 3 teachers who are studying for master's degrees.

On the basis of the original agronomy specialty, after more than ten years of accumulation and efforts, the reform and adjustment of the specialty have been basically completed, and in 2005, the authorization point for the master's degree in crop science was successfully applied for. Agronomy specialty includes crop genetics and breeding, crop cultivation and agrometeorology, among which crop genetics and breeding is one of the earliest master's degree authorization points in the history of our college. The main courses offered are basic biochemistry, plant physiology, botany, field experiment and statistics, general ecology, general genetics, crop breeding, crop cultivation and cultivation, seed science, microbiology, plant biotechnology, genetic engineering, agricultural economics, agricultural mechanization, bioinformatics and so on. The main research directions of this discipline include: the application of genetic engineering in plant breeding, genetic improvement of plant nutrition, the application of plant molecular markers, the research of new crop production technologies and the cultivation of new crop varieties.

Plant protection system

The Department of Plant Protection is affiliated to the College of Plant Science of Jilin University. The Department of Plant Protection was established after the Military University of the People's Liberation Army was handed over to the local government. In 2004, it began to recruit undergraduates majoring in plant protection. The Department of Plant Protection was formerly the Department of Plant Protection of China People's Liberation Army Agriculture and Animal Husbandry University. Horticulture specialty was established on the basis of the Horticulture Teaching and Research Department of the Department of Agriculture and Agricultural Machinery of the former PLA Quartermaster University. Courses such as vegetable cultivation and fruit tree cultivation have been set up for agronomy specialty and agricultural sideline specialty, which has formed characteristics in plant soilless cultivation, green food and vegetable production research. Our department was established in 1988. Now it belongs to the College of Plant Science of Jilin University. Our department can now recruit students of different levels, such as doctor of botany, master of plant nutrition, master of agricultural extension in agricultural resources utilization, and undergraduate of agricultural resources and environment.

There are 7 full-time teachers in this department, including professor 1 person, 3 associate professors and 3 lecturers. Except 1, they are all doctors. Doctoral supervisor 1 person, 4 master supervisors and 2 visiting professors.

The staff of our department have been engaged in teaching and scientific research in soil, plant nutrition and agricultural environmental protection for a long time, and have taught graduate students and undergraduates courses such as plant nutrition and fertilization, soil science, soil fertilizer science, agricultural environmental protection, higher plant nutrition, genetic improvement of plant nutrition and soil chemistry of plant nutrition. The physiological and biochemical mechanisms of plant stress resistance (aluminum toxicity) and allelopathy (continuous cropping obstacle), efficient utilization of nutrients (low potassium, new fertilizer) and application of microorganisms in the environment were systematically and deeply studied. In recent years, he has presided over and participated in more than 20 scientific research projects at home and abroad, such as the National Ninth Five-Year Plan, the National Natural Science Foundation, the study abroad fund, the projects funded by the Japanese Institute, and the horizontal projects of enterprises. Over the years, our department has established stable scientific research cooperation relations with China Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, China Agricultural University, Nanjing Agricultural University, South China Agricultural University and other related research institutes, and maintained regular academic exchanges with many foreign universities or scientific research units such as Okayama University, Royal Danish Veterinary and Agricultural University.

Our department covers agronomy and science, including plant nutrition and environmental science. It is a new discipline with strong comprehensiveness, wide adaptability and great development prospect.

Main research direction: Direction 1. Plant nutrition ecology

(1) Physiological and molecular biological mechanism of plant stress resistance: To study the stress resistance mechanism of plants to low potassium and aluminum toxicity at physiological, biochemical and molecular levels. In particular, the stress response characteristics and mechanism of soybean under aluminum toxicity stress were systematically studied, which was supported by two national natural science funds.

(2) Application of plant allelopathy in agricultural sustainable development: Using allelopathy among organisms, an agricultural ecosystem resistant to diseases, pests and weeds is constructed, thus reducing the input of artificial chemicals and realizing the sustainable and harmonious development of environment-friendly agriculture.

Direction two. Agricultural ecological environment

(1) Environmental Microbiology Technology and Bioengineering: To study the inhibition mechanism of soil pathogenic microorganisms on crop growth, and to screen and apply beneficial microorganisms for ecological agriculture construction and bioremediation of environmental pollution.

The Department of Basic Biology is affiliated to the College of Plant Science, Department of Agriculture, Jilin University. Its predecessor can be traced back to 1953 at the earliest, after more than 50 years of construction and development.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Automation was mainly established by the Department of Military Equipment Technology and Management and the Department of Mechanical Foundation of the former Military University, and now it is affiliated to the College of Plant Science of the Agricultural Department of Jilin University. At present, the main teaching object of this department is mechanical engineering and automation specialty of grade 2004, and it also undertakes related courses of agronomy, plant protection, horticulture, agricultural resources and environment, food science and engineering, food quality and safety, animal science and other majors.
