Prose of Lu Shi's Spring and Autumn Period in Danyang

1. In recent years, I have been to Danyang three times.

As a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Zhenjiang, although it is only a little-known town compared with some famous historical cities and is not a tourist hotspot, it still has a rich history and a cultural landscape that cannot be underestimated.

When I left, it made me miss it and formed an intricate intersection in my heart, so that I felt it for a long time and couldn't help but embark on the road to return to visit again and again.

Just like a wanderer who ventures into the deep and vast realm and knocks on the dusty door of history, he can still hear those distant silences and immortal stories.

Recognizable cultural symbols such as "Hometown of Qiliang", "Yanling Mausoleum of Ji Zi" and "Former Residence of Lu Fengzi" have invisibly increased Danyang's importance, becoming a famous historical city and the hometown of emperors in the minds of many scholars and literati (there are 12 Qi

Mausoleum of Emperor Liang).

Its cultural heritage can even be traced back to 2,500 years ago, and it is also the only place where Confucius left his writings and inscriptions (Jizi Temple).

Danyang, which means "Danfeng Chaoyang", controls the north and south according to the collision between water and land.

The establishment began in the Warring States Period, when it was originally called Yunyang City.

In 221 BC, Qin Shihuang unified the world, implemented the system of prefectures and counties, and changed Yunyang City into Yunyang County, and soon changed its name to Qu'a County.

In the first year of the New Dynasty (AD 9) when Wang Mang usurped the Han Dynasty, Qu'a County was renamed Fengmei County, and in the early Eastern Han Dynasty it was renamed Yunyang County.

In the second year of Taikang's reign (281) in Jin Dynasty, it was renamed Qu'a County.

In the first year of Tang Tianbao (742), Runzhou was renamed Danyang County, Qu'a County was renamed Danyang County, and Danyang County belonged to Danyang County.

In the first year of Qianyuan (758), Danyang County was renamed Runzhou, and Danyang County belonged to Runzhou.

After the dynasty, Danyang belonged to Zhenjiang.

In this long history, Danyang has also changed its name to Zhufang, Lanling, Yanling, Jianzhou, Yunzhou, etc.

These names, which have changed and recurred over time, have basically been settled since the Tang Dynasty. Most people are really not interested in studying them in depth.

Like me, in the past I only knew that there is Danyang in Jiangsu, and that it is connected by train. This is more convenient than many more well-known county-level cities in the same province (such as Taicang, Changshu, Jiangyin, Zhangjiagang, etc.) that are only connected by long-distance buses.

But I passed through Danyang countless times on the train, but I never paid much attention to it. I occasionally complained that I didn't get a direct train, so that I had to stop at such a small station.

It was not until recent years that I learned about Mr. Lu Fengzi (1886-1959) while studying the history of modern Chinese art. As my understanding deepened, his image became more and more full in my heart.

Such outstanding personality, profound knowledge, unparalleled talent and realm of life have rarely been seen in a hundred years.

In contrast, today's world of materialistic desires and low moral standards often makes people long for those traditional values ????and cultural monuments that have been eroded but still stand, including people like Lu Fengzi.

So, I had to put down my books, pack my bags, and visit cultural relics in various places, including Lu Fengzi, and Danyang was a stop I couldn’t avoid.

Because it is the hometown of Mr. Lu Fengzi.

2. The day after arriving in Danyang, I was accompanied by my friend Mr. Xie Suoyu and he drove to the former residence of Lu Fengzi.

Suoyu is a real estate agent in his prime. Although he is worth hundreds of millions, he is indifferent and low-key by nature. His conversation is witty and witty. He is sincere and honest in nature. He acts in an unhurried and unhurried manner and is eager for justice.

He is from Danyang, is no stranger to Mr. Lu Fengzi, and is in awe of him just like me.

Walking along the long and narrow alley in the west of Xinqiao in Yunyang Town and among a large number of residential houses scattered high and low, it feels like going back in time.

Obviously, this is an old city, with traces of the passage of time exposed everywhere.

Without the signboards "Former Residence of Lu Fengzi" and "Former Residence of Lu Cheng" embedded in the old brick wall as signs, it would be hard for me to believe that the simple and low wooden door was the destination of our repeated inquiries.

The protection level of the former residence of these two great Confucian scholars, who are both extraordinary talents, is only "Danyang City Level". It is no different from the surrounding residential buildings. It seems that they did not attract much attention. This somewhat surprised me.

Didn’t you see that some famous figures who are still alive today have built “art museums” and “art museums” named after them in their hometowns.

I have visited a few places. They are built with a lot of money, are magnificent and have modern facilities. If a visitor who doesn't know where he is coming here, he will think that this is a memorial hall for some famous historical figure!

In contrast, the "shabby" condition of Lu Fengzi's former residence is extremely disproportionate to his status in the history of Chinese art and education in the past century.

And Danyang City has not yet established his memorial hall.

It is said that more than 40 local CPPCC members have jointly signed the proposal and called for it, but it has been shelved until now due to so-called "funding" issues.

Is it really a "funding" issue?

Looking at those glamorous and luxurious buildings, I couldn't help but be speechless.

The alley a few dozen steps away from her former residence is the former site of the private Zhengze Girls' Vocational School founded by Lu Fengzi. Such a large piece of land should be a huge family property today, but Lu Fengzi did not because of "

He donated it to his hometown free of charge due to funding issues.

When I first arrived at Lu Fengzi’s former residence, I was rejected.

Obviously, this former residence is just a symbolic sign, rather than a normally operating cultural facility as imagined.

Later I learned that the descendants of Lu Fengzi are currently responsible for opening the door to receive visitors.

They hold the key to open the door, and visitors can enter. Otherwise, they can only lie in the crack of the door and peek inside.
