India's national broadband project has deployed about 255,000 kilometers of optical fiber.
As part of the first phase of deployment, the Indian government's BharatNet national broadband project has now expanded to more than 654.38 million village committee areas.

It is reported that as of this week, the network has served in 10 1370 village committees, and the second phase of the project has started.

The project has laid about 255,000 kilometers of optical fiber, laying 800 kilometers every day for 250 consecutive days, which is called a global record by the government.

At the same time, the government has also obtained the commitment of operators to use this optical fiber network to provide services to 70,000 villages.

The budget of the second phase project is 36,543.8+00 billion rupees (C165,438+04 Note: about 4.8 billion US dollars), and the goal is to connect the remaining 6,543.8+05 million village council areas before March 2065,438+09.

The project also involves satellite broadband transmission in 5,300 locations in India and potential wireless and airborne fiber deployment.

BharatNet project was conceived at 20 1 1, but it was delayed due to various localization challenges. The project is sponsored by the Universal Service Obligation Fund.
