Campus Introduction Beijing Dancing Academy is located in Haidian District, Beijing. It is the first municipal undergraduate institution established in New China to carry out professional dance education. It is known as the "Cradle of Dancers".

Beijing Dance Academy History In February 1954, the first batch of dance teachers in New China received systematic training from Soviet experts in a courtyard in Xiangyi Hutong, Dongcheng District, marking the beginning of Chinese dance education.

Beijing Dance Academy On September 6, 1954, the Beijing Dance School held its "founding ceremony" in Baijiazhuang. Mao Dun, then Minister of Culture, cut the ribbon for the school.

In 1955, the school represented China in the World Youth Student Peace and Friendship Festival for the first time, and "Ordos" directed by Jia Zuoguang won the first international gold medal.

In 1956, the school staged its first complete ballet, "Useless Caution."

In July 1958, the school successfully performed the world classic ballet "Swan Lake" for the first time, and the first white swan trained by the school was born: Bai Shuxiang.

In 1959, the school established China's first experimental ballet company, the Experimental Ballet Company Affiliated to Beijing Dance School, which was also the predecessor of the National Ballet of China. In the same year, the school launched its first self-written and self-performed national dance drama "The Fish Mermaid".

It marks that Chinese folk dance drama has entered a new stage of development.

In 1960, the school launched the first batch of teaching materials: "Chinese Classical Dance Teaching Method", "Classical Ballet Basic Training", and "Classical Ballet Pas de Deux Teaching Method".

Beijing Dance Academy In 1962, in the dance competition of the World Youth Festival, student Chen Ailian won two gold medals for China in the world competition for the first time.

In 1978, Beijing Dance School was restructured into "Beijing Dance Academy".

In 2000, the Beijing Dance Academy was transferred to the management of Beijing Municipality.

In 2001, Beijing Dance Academy added new disciplines such as musical theatre, art communication and art design.
