1929, renamed as National Hangzhou Art Institute; 1938, changed to National Art Institute. 1950, becoming East China Branch of Central Academy of Fine Arts; 1958, renamed Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts; 1993, renamed China Academy of Fine Arts. Before 2000, it was managed by the Ministry of Culture. In 2000, it became a university jointly established by provincial departments. In 20 16, it was approved as a university established by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture.
