Foundations are one of the three forms of social organizations. Foundations that are formally registered in China need to register with the local civil affairs department. The sponsor is usually a legal person and the position is the chairman. Honorary directors are not registered with the civil affairs department and do not participate in the management of the foundation. They are just honorary. Generally, the most important positions stipulated in the foundation's charter are chairman, secretary-general and chief supervisor, followed by directors. Honorary Director is just an honorary title and has no practical meaning.
