His research interests include translation, lexicography and English curriculum and teaching. 1988 was promoted to associate professor, 1995 distinguished professor. 1996 ——1997 was a senior visiting scholar at the university of Texas. At present, he is a member of the English Teaching Guidance Sub-committee of the Ministry of Education, an expert in the evaluation of the National Social Science Fund and the Beijing Social Science Fund, an expert in the communication of humanities and social science funds of the Ministry of Education, an expert in the communication of degree and postgraduate education disciplines of the Ministry of Education, and an expert in the evaluation of the National Scholarship Fund Committee.
