In order to improve the conditions for running a school and fully seize the opportunity that the petroleum system is in urgent need of professionals in metal corrosion and protection, the Science and Technology Development Bureau of the former Ministry of Petroleum officially signed an eight-year agreement with our school on 1983, and entrusted our school to train three batches (83, 84 and 85) of undergraduate students majoring in oil corrosion and protection for various oilfields in China. Therefore, in the next ten years, the Ministry of Petroleum invested more than 6 million yuan in teaching and scientific research, which greatly improved the teaching and scientific research conditions of the research room of metal corrosion and protection in our department. Teachers Zheng, Zheng and Zheng have made great contributions to this.
At the beginning of the establishment of the Department of Chemistry, the laboratory area was less than 3,000 square meters, scattered in five places of the school. The total value of equipment and instruments is less than 800,000 yuan. Due to the serious shortage of experimental equipment, many students experiment in pairs or even in groups of four. In order to solve the construction problem of the chemistry building, under the leadership of Zhu Huinan, director of the department, a preparatory group composed of Shi and Lai Gang was set up. After years of hard work, the Chemistry Building was finally started in 1988 and put into use in 1992, with a construction area of nearly 8,000 square meters, which laid a good foundation for the development of the Chemistry Department. During the construction of the chemical building, Comrade Zhang Huamin, deputy director of the department in charge of this work, did a lot of work.
At the end of 1990s, our department seized the great opportunity to realize the third great development of our university in the next two decades and build a world-class university, carried out the guiding principle of adhering to and developing a comprehensive, research-oriented and open school-running pattern, built a first-class discipline, a first-class team and a first-class base, actively strived for the investment of 5 million yuan in teaching funds, and completed the modernization of teaching laboratories and the construction of central laboratories. At the same time, the school also won 4 million yuan for the research base of materials chemistry and 6.5438+0.9 million yuan for the construction of the research base of life chemistry, which has been completed or is under construction. The construction of these bases provides a strong support for the teaching and scientific research level of the Department of Chemistry.
In the mid-1980s, with the efforts of Zhu Huinan and Xu, academic leaders such as Professor Xie Hongquan and Professor Zhao were introduced from Hubei Institute of Chemistry and Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry of China Academy of Sciences respectively. Since then, Li Guangxing, Yang Yajiang and Yang Jihuo have joined our department, and they have played a great role in the construction and development of polymer chemistry and organic chemistry in our department. At the same time, our department is also committed to the training of young and middle-aged teachers. Before and after the establishment of the department, many teachers in our department went abroad to study. For example, Xu,, and Guo Zhihuan in the direction of bio-inorganic chemistry, metal corrosion and protection, etc. These comrades later became academic leaders and backbone. Since the 1990s, our department has sent a group of young teachers to study abroad or pursue doctoral degrees, and now more than a dozen teachers have returned to work. Such as Huang Kaixun, Nie Jin, Guo Xingpeng, Tang Heqing, Gong Yuefa, Liu Qiong, Zhu Lihua and Xie Xiaolin. They gradually become academic leaders or backbone of teaching and research in their respective disciplines. For example, almost all the leaders of departments and teaching and research sections now have overseas study experience. In recent years, we have also trained young teachers as doctors on our own, and seven teachers have obtained doctoral degrees. Among them, there are many outstanding people, such as Yang, who won the cross-century outstanding talent fund of the Ministry of Education in 2002. At present, more than 70% of young and middle-aged teachers in our department have doctoral degrees, and most of them have overseas work and study experience. They play an important role in their respective posts by virtue of the cutting-edge scientific knowledge and advanced management mode they have learned abroad. Relying on these high-quality young and middle-aged teachers who are energetic, active in thinking, willing to work actively, paying attention to practical results and not afraid of difficulties, the chemistry department has completed the alternation of old and new, overcome the unfavorable situation of talent shortage and laid a solid foundation for the long-term development of the chemistry department. The Department of Chemistry already has a strong faculty: on-the-job faculty 107, 70 full-time teachers, including double-hired academicians 1, winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars 1, 2 new century talents of the Ministry of Education, 2 chutian scholars, Chutian students 1 and 3 provincial outstanding young people. There are 28 professors (doctoral supervisor 2 1 person, part-time doctoral supervisor 1 person) and 24 associate professors, among whom 65% have doctoral degrees.
