In view of the fact that hepatitis B is so prevalent, so many people are infected and pose such a great threat to people's health, most healthy people or people infected with hepatitis B virus lack correct knowledge of hepatitis B prevention and treatment. China Hepatitis Prevention and Treatment Foundation, together with the Hepatology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, the Chinese Preventive Medical Association and the Hepatology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, proposed to set up a well-known "International Liver Protection Day" on the basis of the original "Love Liver Publicity Day" and "Hepatitis B Publicity Day". The date is finally chosen on March 18 every year, because there are no major national festivals around this date 10 days. During this period, large-scale publicity and health education on prevention and treatment of hepatitis and liver diseases will be carried out nationwide, so that the public can establish health awareness on prevention and treatment of hepatitis and liver diseases, reduce the incidence of hepatitis B, alcoholic hepatitis and other liver diseases, and protect people's health. Therefore, March 18 every year is designated as "International Liver Protection Day".
