Do you know how serious the harm of indoor decoration air pollution is? According to statistics, the number of deaths caused by indoor air pollution in the country reaches 111,000 every year, which is about 304 people every day. This number is equal to the number of people who die from car accidents every day.
According to a report by UNICEF, air pollution kills 600,000 children under the age of 5 every year.
However, did you know that air pollution in a car is more terrible than indoor air pollution? Yes, because the space inside the car is smaller and the ventilation conditions are poorer, the concentration of pollutants produced is higher, so the harm to the human body is greater.
There are four major culprits of air pollution in cars, including formaldehyde, benzene series, ammonia, etc., which mainly come from glue used in plastic parts, carpets, headliners, seats and other decorations in the car.
These pollutants can cause damage to the skin, breathing, blood, and cardiovascular systems. They can cause dizziness, chest tightness, respiratory inflammation, paralysis of human nerves, and even cause cancer in severe cases.
The Air Monitoring Center of the China Interior Decoration Association once tested 200 vehicles and found that according to indoor air quality standards, nearly 90% of the vehicles had excessive formaldehyde or benzene content in the air inside the vehicle, and most of the vehicles with excessive formaldehyde levels were in the fifth or sixth century.
More than times, the air quality inside new cars is the worst.
A foreign research test shows that after a new car leaves the factory, the evaporation time of harmful gas concentrations in the car can last for more than 6 months. During this period, the car is tantamount to a mobile gas chamber.
Some car owners will think of using air freshener or perfume to cover up the odor in the car, but this only treats the symptoms rather than the root cause.
First of all, many pollutants are colorless and odorless and cannot be sensed by the sense of smell. Only the masking of the smell cannot eliminate the pollutants; even many fresheners themselves contain volatile pollutants, which may cause more serious secondary air pollution.
Faced with such an invisible killer that comes and goes without a trace, don’t we have any solution? In fact, the country has begun to pay attention to the air quality in cars and has corresponding evaluation procedures.
From January 1 next year, the national "Passenger Car Indoor Air Quality Evaluation Guidelines" will become a mandatory standard, and another evaluation system that includes in-car air quality - China Ecological Car Assessment (C-ECAP) has also been implemented.
When it starts to be implemented, it actually focuses on three things: health, energy saving, and environmental protection, and publishes them in intuitive and quantitative grade evaluations - platinum, gold, silver, bronze and no-license.
In this evaluation, the air quality in the car is the most important item of health evaluation.
Moreover, according to the evaluation principles of C-ECAP, the evaluated models are randomly inspected rather than submitted for inspection, and the evaluation models are determined without prior notification, ensuring the fairness of the inspection process.
Among the models that have been evaluated, only four models have received the highest level of platinum gold, including Dongfeng Citroen C4 Sega, Dongfeng Peugeot 308S, FAW Toyota Corolla Twin Engine, and FAW Volkswagen Golf. Among them, Dongfeng Citroen C4 Sega is a mainstream sedan for home use.
The only one among sedans.
If you look at health alone, the C4 Sega scored 36.7 out of 40 points, the highest score among the four platinum models. The remaining three models are all higher in price or level than the C4 Sega.
In the car air quality score, which accounts for the largest proportion of health scores, C4 Sega achieved a high score of 91.3%.
In comparison, the Golf, which also won the platinum gold medal, scored 81.3%, while the Corolla Twin Engine, a hybrid model, only scored 76.2% in the in-car air quality category, which is brought about by the hybrid system.
Low tailpipe emissions result in a high overall score.
This also just shows that C4 Sega attaches great importance to the air quality in the car.
Although C-ECAP evaluation is not mandatory at present, considering that in-car health has been paid more and more attention, its evaluation results are of great reference significance.
And don’t think that this evaluation is very tolerant. Before the standard was introduced, the China Automotive Technology and Research Center conducted a bottom-up test and stated that only about 22.07% of the products in the bottom-up test could obtain C-ECAP certification, while 77.93% could not obtain certification at all.
Although the pass rate is so low, the standards have not been lowered.
Therefore, being able to receive the highest level of evaluation is a great affirmation for the health of the C4 Sega vehicle.
It is worth mentioning that C4 Sega, which received the highest rating for in-car health, comprehensively lowered its official guide price in November, with the maximum reduction reaching 12,000 yuan, and the entry-level model has reached less than 100,000 yuan, achieving a high level of quality and price.
A win-win situation, the competitiveness in mainstream family cars has been significantly improved again, further establishing Dongfeng Citroen as a benchmark for healthy interior quality in cars.
The air quality inside the car cannot be ignored, so we must nip the murderous killer of air pollution in the car in the cradle from the beginning. When purchasing a vehicle, we must add in-car health as an important indicator to the selection process.
Among the factors to consider, choose those models with good air quality in the car that can bring health to people.
