The Youth Fund Project supports young scientific and technological personnel to independently select topics within the scope of the National Natural Science Fund, carry out basic research work, and cultivate the ability of young scientific and technological personnel to independently preside over scientific research projects and conduct innovative research. The National Natural Science Foundation of China (hereinafter referred to as NSFC) performs its duties in the process of youth fund project management.

In accordance with the relevant provisions of the National Natural Science Foundation of China on the management of project funds, formulate and publish annual project guides, accept project applications, organize expert review, approve funded projects, manage and supervise the implementation of funded projects, and use and manage the funds of youth funds.

The Natural Science Foundation of China shall, according to the fund development plan, discipline development strategy and fund support evaluation report, formulate the annual project guide on the basis of extensive listening to opinions and argumentation by the expert review team, and the annual project guide shall be published 30 days before the date of receiving the project application.
