Avari was born in Mburu, Mburu Province, British Tanzania on 1938. He is the first Tanzanian athlete to participate in the Olympic Games. 1968 participated in the men's marathon of Mexico Olympic Games. Ahwari was crushed and injured at 19 km. He dragged his injured knee and dislocated shoulder to finish the whole race. When he ran to the stadium, the award was over, but people returned to the stands to cheer for the uncrowned king.

19 Olympic Games was held in Mexico City. 10 year 10 20 marathon, due to the weather, the results of the contestants were average. 16: 30, all other players end the game. 17: 30, the award is over. The audience began to get up and leave their seats. 18: 30, the organizing Committee informed the service stations along the way to start evacuation, and the audience began to go home in twos and threes along the way. But not long after, an amazing news came: a player is still running! Yes, that's Avari. In the dark, he is still moving forward. Suddenly a reporter from Delta Sky Illustrated appeared next to him. He asked inexplicably, "Why do you run so hard when you know there is no chance of winning?" Avari is obviously unprepared for this problem. After "running" silently for a while, he replied: "My motherland sent me here from 7000 miles (about 1 1265 kilometers), not to let me start the race, but to let me finish it." 19, surrounded by police cars, Avari finally walked into the stadium that turned on the lights for him. He became a hero. He got more cheers and applause than the champion. Too excited, people forgot to count his exact score (at least 4 hours and 30 minutes). Only he ranked 57th among 75 athletes. After him, 18 players quit halfway for various reasons. After running the finish line, he was taken directly to the hospital.
