March 9th is Mother River Protection Day every year. This festival was established in 2002 by the leading group for protecting the Mother River.

The action to protect the mother river is organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, with the theme of protecting the "mother river"-the Yellow River, the Yangtze River and other major rivers that feed the Chinese nation and people.

In the "Mother River" basin, it is an important work to vigorously carry out soil erosion control, protect the ecological environment, advocate and establish the awareness of green civilization and sustainable development, promote the construction of national ecological projects, and contribute to the better benefit of the mother river to the Chinese nation and the realization of global ecological balance.

Some activities:

1. Construction of "Mother River Protection Project". Adopt the methods of engineering greening and project management. The unified name of the project, namely "Mother River Protection Project", is designed in strict accordance with the scientific design of the project, and the project is determined through application and approval, and local key projects can be determined in various places.

Under the leadership of the "Mother River Protection Action" leading groups at all levels, each project is organized and implemented according to the project, and management is strengthened. At the same time, actively explore other ways to help poor farmers carry out small watershed management.

2. Create "Mother River Protection Fund". Provincial Youth Development Foundation authorized by China Youth Development Foundation and China Youth Development Foundation is the donation accepting institution and fund management institution of Mother River Protection Fund, which implements unified fund raising and management rules. All the funds raised will be used for the construction of the mother river protection project, and the use will be announced to donors and the society in a timely manner, and strict social supervision will be accepted.
