In 1982, he graduated from the Department of Chemistry of Wuhan University with a bachelor's degree in analytical chemistry.
In 1988, he obtained a master's degree from the Department of Material Engineering of Wuhan University of Technology (formerly Wuhan University of Technology).
After graduating from university, he taught in the Department of Materials Engineering of Wuhan University of Technology, engaged in teaching analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis courses and research on materials chemistry; since he was transferred to the College of Food Science and Technology of Huazhong Agricultural University in 1993, he has been engaged in food chemistry, food analysis, spectral analysis,
He teaches courses on food safety and hygiene and conducts research on natural product chemistry. He is the second person to complete the national quality course "Food Chemistry and Analysis".
In recent years, he has been mainly engaged in the research of bioactive peptides in natural products, and has presided over the National Natural Science Foundation projects, National 863 Program projects, Hubei Provincial Natural Science Foundation projects and horizontal application projects.
