In the early 1980s, the National Natural Science Foundation was put forward by 89 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in a letter to the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, with the aim of promoting the reform of China's science and technology system and changing the allocation of scientific research funds. The key points and main tasks of the development of individual achievements of the National Natural Science Fund are: to cultivate innovative ideas and enhance the original innovative ability around the implementation of source innovation strategy, scientific and technological talent strategy and innovative environment strategy; Adhere to people-oriented, improve the funding system for talent training of the Science Foundation; Strengthen conditional support and optimize the development environment of basic research; Formulate and implement the discipline development strategy to promote the balanced and coordinated development of disciplines; Aim at major scientific frontiers and important national strategic needs, meet future challenges, and deploy a number of basic, strategic and forward-looking priority development areas.
