The history of Peking University Alumni Association can be traced back to 1919, that is, 21 years after the founding of Jingshi University Hall, and 7 years after Jingshi University Hall was renamed Peking University, the Peking University Alumni Association, with Wan Zhaozhi (zhi) as its president, was established in new york with the aim of "enhancing the friendship of students and exchanging expertise". This is the first alumni organization of Peking University and the source of the development history of Peking University Alumni Association. In the 192s, Peking University alumni organizations extended from the United States and Europe to Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing and other places. During this period, Peking University alumni activities were quite active, but they were in a spontaneous and scattered state, with imperfect organizations, small scale and scattered strength, and limited service capacity for alumni. After the founding of the People's Republic of China to more than 3 years before and after the reform and opening up, the alumni association was in silence for a long time.

On May 4th, 1984, Peking University Alumni Association was established as a formal national independent organization. In 1992, Peking University Alumni Association was officially registered in the Ministry of Civil Affairs and became an independent corporate entity. After the centenary of Peking University in 1999, the Alumni Association set up a permanent secretariat, with the Alumni Affairs Department in peking university education foundation. Since the 21st century, the school has placed alumni work in a more prominent position, made full use of school resources, and constantly strengthened ties with alumni, wholeheartedly providing more and greater support for the development of alumni.
