In terms of governance system, West Lake University draws lessons from international experience, implements the principal responsibility system under the leadership of the board of directors, and sets up the board of supervisors, advisory committees, school affairs committees, academic committees and degree committees, thus forming a university governance system featuring teachers' scholarship, democratic management and social participation. At present, members of the school board have entered the stage of substantive nomination and selection. There are many candidates with world-class level and international vision and influence in the main leadership positions of West Lake University, and the selection work will be promoted as soon as possible. Before the president takes office, Shi, director of the Organizing Committee of West Lake University, leader of the organizing working group and president of Zhejiang West Lake Institute of Advanced Studies, will be responsible for the daily management of West Lake University.

The funds for running a school mainly come from the sponsor's investment, school income, competitive scientific research project funds, talent policy support funds and government support funds. The daily operating expenses are mainly borne by Hangzhou West Lake Education Foundation. At the same time, West Lake University will set up the West Lake University Committee of China's * * * production party to give full play to the political core role of the party organization in running a school.
