On the morning of April 25, 2008, the First Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations presided over the flag-raising ceremony in front of the United Nations building and congratulated all the staff, which kicked off the day's activities. The employees wore national costumes to participate in the parade at the headquarters. Experts and scholars from all over the world held a forum on the integration of culture, art, health, Olympics and economy and culture in the conference room on the first floor.
In order to express China people's love for peace and harmony, the activities of the China delegation include: Mr. Chen Fang presented the best tea picked from Xishuangbanna Millennium tea tree to the United Nations; The best silk that Mr. Zhang Jianqiang brought to the United Nations from Hangchow; The best Jun porcelain presented by Mr. Mao Wanchun to the United Nations; Mr. Xu Wenjie presented the Olympic mascot "Fuwa" to the United Nations, and then Mr. Zhang Kesi showed his calligraphy work "Harmonious World, Love", which pushed the activity to a climax.
This performance group representing Asia is mainly composed of artists from China, Japan and other countries. China International Cultural Communication Center and World Peace Charity Foundation, as the organizers of China District, selected top artists from all over the world, including Zhang Kesi, a famous calligraphy performer, Li Yugang, a famous Peking Opera performer, and the Dance Angels Group, and brought colorful programs representing China's traditional culture and art, such as calligraphy performance, Peking Opera, instrumental music and modern song and dance. After the performance, the World Harmony Declaration initiated by the Executive Chairman of the World Harmony Foundation was read out, which was endorsed by all the participants and signed by them. Everyone agrees that it is the common aspiration of people all over the world to build a harmonious society in order to overwhelm the discordant noise of the Olympic Games and welcome the Beijing Olympic Games, and it is also in line with the spirit of the UN Charter.
