Northeast China, North China, Northwest China, Southwest China, Guangdong, Guangxi and Central China are all cultivated. Grain is used for grinding or as feed, which has high nutritional value. Type specimens were collected from Europe. North latitude 41~ 43 is recognized as the growth latitude zone of oat gold in the world. Here is the plateau area, with an altitude of 1000 meters, an average annual temperature of 2.5℃ and an average sunshine of 16 hours, which is the best natural environment for oat growth. Oats have a long history in China, covering all mountainous areas, plateaus and cold areas in the north. Over the years, the planting area was180,000 mu, of which naked oats160,000 mu, accounting for 92% of the oat planting area.
China has a long history of growing oats. According to records, it began to grow oats in 2500 BC. In China, more than 70% of oats are planted in the following three areas: Tumote Plain in Inner Mongolia, Datong Basin in Shanxi, and alpine and dam areas in Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan.
With the improvement and popularization of product varieties and planting techniques, the oat yield in China has increased from 65438 0.74 tons/ha in 1993 to about 3 tons/ha at present, with an increase of over 76%. It is estimated that the domestic oat production level will remain at about 3.4 tons/hectare in the next few years, and the domestic oat production will increase to 1.25 million tons in 2020.
