The "985 Project" is a higher education construction project implemented by China government to build a number of world-class universities and a number of internationally renowned high-level research universities. The "985 Engineering Superiority Discipline Innovation Platform Project" is a national education construction project, which is oriented to the key areas and major demands urgently needed by the development of the country and the industry, focuses on the national science and technology development strategy and the frontier of disciplines, strengthens the discipline structure adjustment, promotes the interdisciplinary, and greatly improves the scientific and technological innovation ability of the construction disciplines and the ability to solve major bottlenecks restricting economic and social development.
