On 1985, Mr. Wang Kuancheng set up the "Wang Kuancheng Education Foundation" with a capital contribution of 1 billion US dollars in Hong Kong, with the purpose of cultivating senior scientific and technological talents for China and providing financial support for scholars from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao to study for doctoral degrees abroad and carry out postdoctoral research and academic exchanges. During the period of 1987, China Academy of Sciences and Wang Kuancheng Education Foundation established and started the cooperative relationship of cultivating high-level scientific and technological talents. In the past 20 years, Wang Kuancheng Education Foundation has established Wang Kuancheng Education Foundation Scholarship of China Academy of Sciences, Wang Kuancheng Scientific Research Award of China Academy of Sciences, Lu Jiaxi Academic Exchange Fund, Wang Kuancheng Postdoctoral Award Fund of China Academy of Sciences, Wang Kuancheng Yucai Award of University of Science and Technology of China, and Wang Kuancheng Planetary Science Talent Training Fund of Purple Mountain Observatory, which has become an important means for China Academy of Sciences to cultivate and attract talents.
