The Supervision Committee of NSFC was established on December 1th, 1998. It is an institution that independently conducts the supervision of NSFC under the leadership of the Party Group of NSFC, and reports its work to the meeting of all members of NSFC.

The work of the supervisory committee aims at maintaining the evaluation principle of "relying on experts, promoting democracy, supporting the best, being fair and reasonable", maintaining the fairness and scientificity of the science fund system and the rights and interests of scientific and technological workers, promoting scientific ethics, and creating an environment and atmosphere conducive to scientific and technological innovation and the healthy development of the science fund cause.

The supervisory committee is composed of relevant scientists and management experts hired by the Natural Science Foundation of China. There shall be a chairman, several vice-chairmen and several members. The supervision committee implements the tenure system. ● Formulate and improve the supervision rules and regulations of natural science funds;

● Accepting complaints and reports about natural science fund projects, investigating and verifying with or entrusting relevant departments, and handling them according to relevant regulations;

● Supervise and inspect the application, evaluation, management and implementation of natural science foundation projects, and put forward opinions and suggestions;

● Put forward opinions and suggestions on the formulation and revision of the management rules and regulations of the Natural Science Foundation;

● Carry out publicity, education and other related activities aimed at strengthening the construction of scientific ethics.

Since its establishment, the Supervisory Committee has closely focused on the work of the Science Foundation Center, earnestly done the basic work of improving the supervision mechanism, and gradually established and improved the supervision rules and regulations; Seriously accept complaints and reports about the work of science funds in the scientific and technological circles; In-depth research, listen carefully to the opinions and suggestions of scientific and technological workers; Extensive publicity, promotion of scientific ethics, advocacy of seeking truth from facts and scientific attitude have won the understanding, support and participation of the scientific and technological community.

The supervision committee of NSFC attaches importance to extensive and in-depth work exchanges with the supervision institutions of scientific research management institutions at home and abroad, so as to learn from the experience of relevant institutions in strengthening the construction of scientific ethics and style of study and implementing effective supervision, broaden their horizons, brainstorm and continuously improve the supervision level of NSFC.
