Lanzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone is located in the west of the main urban area of ??Lanzhou City. It was built in 1993 and approved by the State Council in 2002 to become the first national-level economic and technological development zone in Gansu Province.

After 25 years of development, the spatial layout of "one district and six parks" (Anning Park, Xigu Park, Honggu Park, Gaolan Park, Airport North High-tech Park, Gaolan Ecological Restoration and Industrial Development Demonstration Zone) has been formed.

There are 1,283 enterprises settled in the area, including 539 industrial enterprises, 67 industrial enterprises above designated size, and 36 high-tech enterprises.

In 2015, Lanzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone planned to build the "Western Medicine Valley" by combining its industrial advantages and the location advantages of the Airport North High-tech Park.

Ma Yongfu said that building a "Western Medicine Valley" has many favorable conditions such as Gansu's rich resources of traditional Chinese medicine and strong industrial foundation.

Since the Western Medicine Valley Industrial Park was officially approved by the Gansu Provincial Development and Reform Commission in June 2015, all 65 individual buildings, sewage treatment plants and heating stations in the first phase of the "Western Medicine Valley" plan have been completed.

"The park focuses on the construction of the soft and hard environment of the industrial park, and leads the construction of main and standard factories, public service centers, exhibition and trading centers, financial service centers and some public supporting facilities." Ma Yongfu said.

It is understood that at present, 21 biopharmaceutical companies, including Foci and Heshengtang, are constructing and producing in the Biopharmaceutical Industry Base of Airport North High-tech Park.

Companies such as Jiajiajing have settled in the "Western Medicine Valley" for factory construction or production.

After the "Western Medicine Valley" is completed, it will form a spatial layout of "one core, two centers and three areas".

The first one is the agency for drug testing and new drug application.

The two centers are the exhibition and trading center and the financial services center.

The three areas are the modern Chinese medicine manufacturing and Chinese herbal medicine export processing area, the high-tech pharmaceutical manufacturing area, and the medical device manufacturing area.

After completion, the output value is expected to reach 10 billion yuan within three years.

As an enterprise entering the park out of Lanzhou City, Shi Aiguo, chairman of Lanzhou Foci Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., said that in recent years, Lanzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone has formulated regulations on investment and financing, taxes, technological innovation, housing and social security for settled projects and enterprises.
