Gejiu is a medium-sized industrial city with non-ferrous metal industry as its main industry and a famous tin capital at home and abroad. Gejiu is located in Honghe Prefecture in the south of Yunnan Province, on the north bank of the Red River, 280 kilometers away from Kunming, the provincial capital, and 200 kilometers away from Vietnam. The city's land area is 1.587 square kilometers, with a total population of 453,300, including 309,500 urban residents, the urbanization level is 68.30%, the urban built-up area is 1.2 square kilometers, and the urban resident population is1.800. Yi, Zhuang, Hui, Miao, Dai, Hani and other ethnic minorities live in Kloc-0/20,000 people. Gejiu is located in Ailao Mountain Range, and the Tropic of Cancer passes through the territory.
