Georgia; Since August 8, 2008, a war broke out between Georgia and Russia over control of South Ossetia.

With the mediation of all international parties, Georgia and Russia signed the ceasefire agreement on the 15th and 16th respectively. Russian troops began to withdraw from Georgia on the 18th, and the war ended.

This war resulted in 215 deaths and 1,469 injuries in the Georgian army; 74 deaths in the Russian army, 171 injuries, 19 missing persons, and the death of approximately 1,600 South Ossetian civilians.
