Taikang Life Insurance Co., Ltd. is a national, joint-stock life insurance company established with the approval of the Head Office of the People's Bank of China on August 22, 1996. The company is headquartered in Beijing (Taikang Life Building, No. 156 Fuxingmennei Street, Beijing).
Taikang Life Insurance Co., Ltd. has strong strength and was initiated by 16 state-owned large and medium-sized enterprises including China Foreign Trade and Transportation (Group) Corporation, Sinopec Group Beijing Yanshan Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and China Guardian International Auction Co., Ltd.
In November 2000, Taikang Life fully completed the foreign capital raising work approved by the State Council and the China Insurance Regulatory Commission.
Foreign trade shareholders include Swiss Fengtai Life Insurance Company, Luxembourg Lloyd's Bank, Xinzheng TEDA Investment Co., Ltd. and Japan's SoftBank Group and other well-known international financial companies.
In 2004, Taikang Life issued 1.3 billion subordinated bonds, becoming the first company in the domestic insurance industry to issue subordinated bonds.
