Postdoctoral introduction:
Postdoctoral (postdoctoral researcher/associate researcher/researcher, abbreviated as Postdoc) refers to those who engage in academic research in institutions of higher learning or research institutions after obtaining their doctoral degrees, usually working in postdoctoral mobile stations or postdoctoral research centers.
It should be noted that "postdoctoral" is not a degree, but a doctoral degree winner who is allowed to enter the postdoctoral research mobile station to engage in scientific research. In China, getting a doctorate is a necessary condition for becoming a postdoctoral fellow, but there are also some researchers abroad who do not have a doctorate, but they are postdoctoral fellows, so postdoctoral fellows have scientific research experience.
Generally, postdoctoral time is not long, which is a transitional arrangement for scientific research. The national postdoctoral fund supports postdoctoral students for two years. Foreign universities generally have no unified arrangement for postdoctoral students, and the source of funds and the length of time are relatively flexible.
According to Article 25 of the Regulations on Postdoctoral Management, postdoctoral staff work for two years, generally not more than three years. Postdoctoral personnel who undertake major national projects, obtain projects funded by national natural science funds, national social science funds and other national funds, or projects funded by special funds of China Postdoctoral Science Fund, if they need to extend their standing time;
After the approval of the station unit, it can be appropriately extended according to the needs of the project and research. Postdoctoral staff should leave the station on time after the expiration of their work, and if necessary, they can be transferred to another mobile station or workstation to engage in postdoctoral research. Postdoctoral researchers engaged in postdoctoral research work for a maximum of six years.
On September 6, 2022, Ren Youqun, director of the Department of Teacher Affairs of the Ministry of Education, said at the press conference that the next step will be to promote universities to expand the number of postdoctoral students and use postdoctoral staff as an important source of supplementary teachers.
