Robert HO Hung Ngai Family Fund is an independent charity. Based on the profound China culture, we firmly believe that Buddhism is of great benefit to contemporary society. The fund is headquartered in Hong Kong, and its projects are organized and supported all over the world. We strongly support various artistic activities. Apart from initiating and sponsoring creative art education projects, cultivating young artists and promoting cultural exchanges through art, we are also committed to protecting and reviving China's traditional arts and cultural heritage. We can explain Buddhism from different viewpoints and ways and discuss how to apply Buddhism to daily life.
Robert HO Hung Ngai Family Fund donates HK$ 40 million to promote Buddhism: He Yuzhong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Robert HO Hung Ngai Family Fund, announced that the fund will donate US$ 5.2 million (about HK$ 40.47 million) to Harvard University and Stanford University, so as to strengthen the support for western understanding of Buddhist philosophy and promote the development of Buddhist academic research and practice. This donation is unprecedented for American universities. Of this donation, $2.7 million will be donated to Harvard Theological Seminary to establish a Buddhist action plan. This course is the first course for master of theology students to study in non-Christian tradition, and provides Buddhist views for people of different faiths who participate in religious talent training courses. The donation of $2.5 million to Stanford University (the corresponding donation from the WilliamsandFlorahewlett Foundation) will be used for the permanent chair of Buddhism established by the Robert HO Hung Ngai Family Fund Buddhist Research Center.
In addition to its prominent position in Hong Kong and the Mainland, the He Dong family has a far-reaching influence. Why did He Shili, the son of He Dong, set up a memorial hall in Texas at the beginning of last month to praise his contribution to assisting Sino-US military cooperation during World War II? Former us president George W. bush presided over the ceremony, which seriously threatened water.
There are several antique buildings in Happy Valley Mountain Light Road, which have a history of 77 years. The founder is Zhang Lianjue, the wife of He Dong, and the grandmother of director Robert HO Hung Ngai. Robert HO Hung Ngai, an 80-year-old director, kept a little secret about her grandmother.
1938, when his grandmother Zhang Lianjue was lying in critical condition, Robert HO Hung Ngai Ray was only six years old and was called to her bedside. Grandma called him in, looked at him and called him in. I did the same action three times. At that time, no one knew grandma's mind. However, several decades later, Director Robert HO Hung Ngai took the initiative to participate in the affairs of Jue Yuan in the East to promote Buddhism. The family told Robert HO Hung Ngai whether the heart entrusted by grandma had planted seeds in his heart.
Spare no effort to promote Buddhism.
When director Robert HO Hung Ngai worked in the press, he heard many people criticize Buddhism on many occasions. "What excites me most is that everyone says that Buddhism is a superstitious religion, and the teaching materials of Christ God are the real religion. Others say, don't see monks on the day of horse racing and playing cards. This statement makes me feel that it is a blow to my religion. But of course, our Buddhist community also has many disadvantages, such as divination and fortune telling. These will be confusing. Are you Buddhism, Taoism or something else? These inspired me to strive for the opportunity to introduce Buddhism in Yang Zhengxin. "
Promote Buddhist studies
Director Robert HO Hung Ngai, who founded the Robert HO Hung Ngai Family Foundation, has sponsored the University of Hong Kong, the University of British Columbia, the University of Toronto and Stanford University in the United States to set up Buddhist research centers, which has greatly improved the social status of Buddhism. Why should Buddhism be promoted in universities instead of middle schools? Relatively speaking, college students are mature and curious about Buddhism. If students want to know what Buddhism is like, they can take elective courses to understand what Buddhism is like and understand its meaning. They are not necessarily Buddhists, as long as they know what Buddhism is and that Buddhism is not superstition. At present, the new project of the Robert HO Hung Ngai Family Foundation is to donate money to the theological seminary of Harvard University.
(Harvard Theological Seminary) offers service courses of Buddhist communication, and trains talents to do care and counseling in communities, hospitals, prisons and nursing homes for the elderly.
Buddhism is unique in Buddhism.
Robert HO Hung Ngai Lyman joined the Board of Directors of Jue Yuan of the Eastern Union on 1978. When the board meeting was held, Master Wuyi sat next door. I don't know him at all. When chatting before and after the meeting, Master Wuyi said, "It's a pity that you were born in a Buddhist family, but you know nothing about Buddhism. Why don't I tell you some Buddhist teachings? " "I always thought that monks were very old, let alone ten years older than me. I thought he must be very abstruse, which I can't understand. After the board meeting, he said to me, why don't you go to lent with me? I think fasting is of course an oriental garden! Who knows, he said, why don't we go to Hilton's salad? I suddenly feel that this mage is very trendy. " Later, the board of directors decided to establish Jue Yuan in North America. Because of the temple construction, it cooperated with Master Wuyi for many years. I also admire the Buddhist philosophy he explained. He said the Buddha was a man. When he was alive, the way to spread the truth was oral. The truth of the Buddha was written by his disciples later. He said that even if the Buddha became a Buddha after his death, he would become a Buddha himself, not a god. Don't think that entering a Dojo and praying to the Buddha will give you a decision. He said that Buddha will never help you solve your problems, but when you understand the principles of Buddha, you can use these principles to solve your own problems. Master Wuyi also said that people who travel around, especially me, will not settle down to go to a Dojo to recite scriptures, but he said that not every Buddhist has to go to the Dojo to recite scriptures and worship Buddha. He said that you should have time to meditate and think about Buddhist philosophy and truth, which can be done anywhere, not necessarily in the Dojo. Master Wuyi gave the words "diligence, tolerance and harmony" to director Robert HO Hung Ngai instead of quoting classics. Also because Master Wuyi spoke very simply and easily, I was very impressed with him and regarded him as a good friend. Later, Master Wuyi also converted to Vancouver's Jue Yuan.
