What are the requirements for buying a house in Vietnam?
Foreigners with legal Vietnamese visas can come to Vietnam to buy real estate. All foreign investment funds, banks, Vietnamese branches and representative offices of overseas companies are eligible to purchase. All types of real estate, including apartments and real estate (villas and townhouses), can be purchased, and there is no limit to the number that foreigners can buy. However, the total number of residential units owned by foreigners in an apartment block cannot exceed 30% of the total, that is, there are no more than 250 houses in a specific administrative region (or equivalent administrative region). In the past, foreigners could only buy one house. Real estate belonging to foreigners can be subletted, bought, sold, inherited and mortgaged. It used to be just for the owners and residents. Foreigners have property rights for 50 years, and there is another extension for 50 years. Foreigners who marry Vietnamese will have permanent property rights.
