What's the difference between a society and a foundation?
According to Article 2 of the Regulations on the Registration and Administration of Social Organizations, social organizations refer to non-profit social organizations that are formed voluntarily by citizens of China and carry out activities in accordance with their articles of association in order to achieve the consent of their members. According to Article 2 of the Provisional Regulations on the Registration and Management of Private Non-enterprise Units, private non-enterprise units refer to social organizations engaged in non-profit social service activities organized by enterprises, institutions, social organizations, other social forces and individual citizens using non-state-owned assets. According to Article 2 of the Regulations on the Administration of Foundations, a foundation refers to a non-profit legal person established in accordance with the provisions of these Regulations with the purpose of engaging in public welfare undertakings and using the property donated by natural persons, legal persons or other organizations.
