This year, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced that the IMF Executive Board unanimously agreed to re-elect the current managing director, Christine Lagarde. Her second term will start on July 5, 20 16, and last for five years.
Lagarde showed wise leadership during her first term as managing director of the International Monetary Fund. During the period of world economic turmoil, Lagarde enhanced the IMF's policy advice and financing capacity to member countries, and strengthened the IMF's own capacity building. Lagarde also played a key role in rebuilding the IMF's relations with emerging markets and developing economies.
