In 1967, he was listed in the fifth "Top Ten Outstanding Young People" in Taiwan.

He has won the Best Screenplay Award at the Asian Film Festival, the "China Literary and Art Association" Outstanding Film Director Award, the "Golden Horse Award" Best Director Award, the Best Planning Award for Outstanding Mandarin Films, and the Taiwan Film Industry Development Foundation's Outstanding Screenplay Award.
