Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology is a full-time undergraduate college sponsored by the Beijing Municipal People's Government and approved by the people of China and the Ministry of Education. It is the first batch of pilot universities under the Education and Training Plan for Excellent Engineers of the Ministry of Education, the pilot universities for CDIO engineering education reform of the Ministry of Education, the demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in Beijing, the universities with high-level athletes' enrollment qualifications, the National Industry-University-Research Cooperative Education Experimental Base, the construction unit of Beijing University Students' Quality Education Base, CDIO International Organization and the member units of CDIO Engineering Education Alliance.

As of June 20 18 and 10, the college has three campuses, namely Qingyuan, Kangzhuang and Yanshan, with a total area of 466 mu and a building area of 264,000 square meters, with a total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment of 580 million yuan. There are 14 teaching colleges (departments and departments) and 3 1 undergraduate majors.
