2, the performance is different

Because the E-3 is wide, it can carry a larger radar and is equipped with /APY-2 phased array radar. A single E-3 can control all targets in the stratosphere within 700 kilometers, including land, and belongs to the strategic early warning command and control machine.

E-2 is small in size and equipped with AN/APS- 125 radar. It can control medium and high altitude targets within 500 kilometers and low altitude targets within 200 kilometers, and its performance is not as good as that of E-3. Carrier aircraft, mainly used for aircraft carriers, belongs to tactical early warning and relay control machine.
