On July 28-30, 2022, the Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (hereinafter referred to as the Natural Science Foundation of China) held the 2022 Science Fund Project Review Meeting in Beijing. Academician Xie Xincheng, deputy director of the Natural Science Foundation of China, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Academician Jiang Song, director of the Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, presided over the opening ceremony.
Deputy Director Xie Xincheng introduced the important role of the Natural Science Foundation of China’s general, youth, and regional science fund projects in maintaining the competitiveness of my country’s scientific research team; he emphasized the importance of free exploration and encouraging originality in basic research , hoping that the review experts will select innovative projects fairly and impartially.
Researcher Dong Guoxuan, executive deputy director of the Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, introduced the funding positioning of general, youth and regional science fund projects, this year's project applications, communication review and funding plans; at the same time, he emphasized the review of this science fund project In order to meet the requirements of the work, we must strictly handle high-similarity projects. We hope that the review expert team will do a good job in avoidance and confidentiality, and select projects in accordance with the principle of "level priority, balance and overall planning".
Yan Jinghua, leader of the conference-based supervision working group, introduced the requirements for review and supervision work of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the "Four-Party Commitment" system, further emphasizing the conference review discipline.
The meeting review expert group carefully reviewed the project application and letter comments, voted to select the 2022 general projects, Youth Science Fund projects, and Regional Science Fund projects, and proposed project funding recommendations. The meeting also discussed and determined the general project guidelines and key project guidelines for 2023. The resident supervision working group supervised the entire review process.
