The purpose of China Energy Foundation is to promote the improvement of energy efficiency and the development of renewable energy, and to help China transition to a sustainable energy future. Help China meet the energy challenge by funding relevant institutions in China to carry out policy research, strengthen standard setting, promote capacity building and disseminate best practices. China projects funded by Energy Foundation include building energy conservation, electricity, environmental management, industrial energy conservation, low-carbon development, renewable energy, sustainable cities and transportation.

By the end of 20 14, the Energy Foundation had funded 2 100 projects in China, with more than 540 project units, including domestic and foreign first-class policy research institutions, universities, industry associations, local energy-saving institutions and non-governmental organizations.
