If the project is not completed, the Ministry of Education cannot declare the national social science. In principle, the clean-up project will not accept the application for extension. Individual difficult national social science foundation basic research projects can apply for extension before the clean-up period, but the reasons for extension, project progress and publication of phased results should be truthfully explained, and the completion time should be promised. The Guangdong Provincial Social Science Planning Office will no longer accept the projects of the National Social Science Fund that have not been submitted during the clean-up period, and report them to the National Social Science Planning Office for termination, and may not declare the projects of the National Social Science Fund again within five years. The Ministry of Education will directly cancel and notify the projects that have not submitted the application for closure during the clean-up period. For projects that are not cleaned up in time, the school will conduct informed criticism.
