If people with financial difficulties don't get social security assistance from the government, they will be in trouble. Some single parents who need to raise their own children, or those who are temporarily unemployed, need short-term financial assistance.
In Hong Kong, the overall goal of social security is to help those who need financial or material assistance to meet their basic and special needs.
The Social Welfare Department implements a non-contributory social security system to achieve the above objectives. This system includes comprehensive social security assistance scheme, public welfare scheme, compensation scheme for victims of violence and law enforcement, traffic accident victim assistance scheme and emergency rescue.
2. Family and child services
Family is the main component of society. At present, the social welfare department in Hong Kong is developing in an all-round way, taking care of the needs of families through a series of preventive, supportive and remedial services, so as to maintain and strengthen the cohesion of families.
The purpose of the day-care center is to improve the day-care service for children from birth to under three years old in a safe, reliable and enlightening environment, so as to cultivate their growth and development. Fees for all child care centres must be approved by the Director of Social Welfare.
3. Medical and social services
To tie in with the care fund medical assistance schemes implemented by the HA on 20 1 1 and 20 12, medical social workers will assist in processing the applications for drug subsidy of these schemes, and the attending doctors will decide whether to recommend patients to use some drugs at their own expense according to their professional judgment.
If the patient has financial difficulties in paying the required fees and meets the specified clinical requirements, the doctor can refer the patient to a social worker for financial examination to assess whether the patient is eligible for financial assistance.
4. Services for the elderly
We will take care of the needs of the elderly in all aspects and improve their quality of life through a series of support services. We will try our best to keep them in a familiar community environment and provide residential care services for the elderly in need.
5. Youth services
Adolescence is a stage of life growth, and life is full of joy. However, in this youth, young people have to face all kinds of complicated problems and challenges that accompany their growth, and their hearts are naturally full of confusion. This description is especially suitable for young people in Hong Kong. The political, economic and social environment in Hong Kong is changing rapidly.
Nowadays, young people in Hong Kong are often subjected to various pressures, such as family problems, difficulties in learning, peer influence and external temptations. Therefore, we need to provide timely support for young people to help them grow up healthily. ?
