Li, born in 1968, is a doctor, professor, doctoral supervisor, director of the Institute of Underground Space and Geological Environment of Nanjing University, and director of Nanjing Strategic Emerging Industry Innovation Center. 1996 received his doctorate from China University of Mining and Technology, 1996- 1998 worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Nanjing University. He used to be a researcher of Marie Curie Project in the European Union, a visiting professor at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Graz Polytechnic University in Austria, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and university of strathclyde in England. He is also a member of ITA-AITES underground environment working group, a core member of GEOSNet, deputy director of waste disposal committee of China Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, deputy director of Youth Committee of China Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, deputy director of china civil engineering society Tunnel and Underground Engineering Risk Management Committee, and editor of Journal of Basic Science and Engineering.
