The predecessor of West Lake University is Zhejiang West Lake Institute of Advanced Studies (established on 20 16), which was founded by scientists such as Professor Shi Yigong, Vice President of Tsinghua University, Professor Chen Shiyi, President of South University of Science and Technology, Professor Pan Jianwei, Executive Vice President of Chinese University of Science and Technology, and Professor Rao Yi, President of Capital Medical University.

Lakeside University generally refers to Zhejiang Lakeside Entrepreneurship Research Center. Lakeside insists on public welfare and non-profit, and advocates sticking to the bottom line and improving society.

2. Different organizers

West Lake University is a new non-profit institution of higher learning sponsored by social forces and supported by the state. Sponsored by Hangzhou West Lake Education Foundation.

Zhejiang Lakeside Entrepreneurship Research Center was founded by nine entrepreneurs and famous scholars including Liu Chuanzhi, Ma Yun, Feng Lun, Guo Guangchang, Shi Yuzhu, Shen Guojun, Qian Yingyi, Cai Hongbin and Shao Xiaofeng.

3. Different principals

On February 2018 14, the Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of West Lake University in Zhejiang Province. Yang Zhenning is the honorary chairman of the board of trustees of West Lake University, Professor Qian Yingyi is the chairman of the board of trustees, and Professor Shi Yigong is the first president of West Lake University.

The first chairman of Zhejiang Lakeside Entrepreneurship Research Center will be Ma Yun. The first batch of students will start classes after the 20 15 lunar new year. The conditions for students to enter Lakeside University are: starting a business for more than three years and having a team of more than 30 people.
